Water Wheel Falls Trip

Happy Monday everyone!

We hope you all had an enjoyable weekend and got out of the house for some fun and adventure. This past weekend, we decided to drive to Water Wheel Falls in Payson, Arizona. We have been wanting to visit this place for a long time because of the beautiful pictures we have seen. We packed up the camping supplies, cooler, bathing suits, and of course our camera. The drive from Phoenix to Payson is absolutely beautiful! The change in elevation and windy roads around the Tonto National Forest were breathtaking. It was also amazing to see the vegetation change from cacti to pine trees while only being in the Jeep for less than two hours. After getting to the Water Wheel Falls trailhead, we started our hike into the woods. The hike was around 1 mile to get to the falls but the trails were not marked well so this took a little bit longer than it should have. Make sure to bring a lot of water with you on your hike and some waterproof shoes as you may have to cross over some small areas of water. When approaching the waterfall, we could tell we were almost there because of the amount of people there. It was a little packed in the beginning but started to die down once it hit 4PM. This place was beautiful because of the flowing waterfall, carved log for steps, and the background behind it all. A little slice of Heaven in the middle of nowhere!
